Barry responds to Chinese Ambassador's warnings about the future of trade relations

Barry Gardiner MP, Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for International Trade, Europe, Energy & Climate Change, following the Chinese Ambassador’s warning about the future of our trade relations with China being dependent on a swift resolution of the review of Hinkley Point, said:

“Earlier today I spent five hours with senior investors from China discussing proposals for a multi-billion pound technology hub in London.

“The incompetent handling of Hinkley Point by this government is throwing all such future investment at risk.

“My opposite number, the International Trade Secretary, is rushing round the globe trying to persuade everyone that Britain is open for business at the same time as the Prime Minister's office is closing UK plc down.

“Theresa May’s government is showing a lack of joined-up policy that is ringing alarm bells for British business.”
