Barry, today, appeared on the Sophy Ridge programme on Sky News to say that Labour will hold the government to account on Brexit and ensure that businesses are able to access the skills and labour they need to succeed.
Speaking on the programme, Barry said:
"I think it’s clear that what we do need to do is to ensure that british business continue to be able to export their goods and their services in a friction free way into Europe. The government has told us that they can secure the exact same benefits. That is what [Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union] David Davis has said. It’s proving very difficult for him to negotiate in practice. What Labour is doing is holding the government to account on those promises and making sure we try to get the very best deal for our business. That’s absolutely critical. It’s also critical that we look at the labour and skills issues that they have. They need to be able to access the best skills from wherever they are around the world and that also means adjusting the free movement of people but making sure the that the labour and skills that they need are still able to be accessed."
