Barry writes to Liam Fox about steel and aluminium tariffs imposed by President Trump

In a letter to Liam Fox, the Secretary of State for International Trade, Barry has called on the Government to set out what representations they have made to their US counterparts on behalf of UK steel producers in order to protect our steel industry from the tariffs the US President has imposed on steel and aluminium exports.

There are 32,000 skilled jobs in our steel sector and these tariffs pose a great threat to them if they are to apply to UK steel exports to the US. The Secretary of State must assure the steel industry that they have his full support and that he is making every possible effort to safeguard the sector and the thousands of jobs within it.
