Barry brings together local services to manage rough sleepers problem in Fryent Country Park

On 3rd October Barry coordinated another visit to Fryent Country Park by local services including a team from Brent Council and the police to clear a makeshift camp set up by rough sleepers. The visit is part of an ongoing effort to tackle the problem of rough sleeping in the park, which has seen four encampments cleared, whilst signposting alternative accommodation options to those who have been affected.

Sadly, many of those who are sleeping in such camps are doing so at the encouragement of certain businesses who are taking advantage of and illegally exploiting workers from overseas who are lured to the UK with a promise of a job and accommodation but find themselves put in tents in the park whilst earning very little in illegal employment arrangements.
