Barry, today, appeared on Sky News with Adam Boulton and Conservative MP Peter Bone to discuss immigration after Brexit.
Speaking during the debate, Barry called out the government on their record on both austerity and immigration. Barry said:
What we must not do is scapegoat the Government’s austerity towards public services on migrants. I think that’s a big mistake. I do think it’s important that we have fair controls and managed migration into this country. But [with relation to net migration], we have about 248,000 people coming into this country net per year. 133,000 of those are from the EU, the rest- almost 120,000- are from the rest of the world. This government has talked about managing immigration down to the tens of thousands. They’ve had the opportunity to do that for 7 years with all of the controls that we have in place with people from the rest of the world and this government has failed to do it.
