On the 20 October 2016, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health made a statement in the House of Commons, announcing a two-year funding settlement for community pharmacies of £2.687 billion in 2016/17 and £2.592 billion in 2017/18. The government blamed this reduction on the need to find £22 billion worth in efficiency savings for 2020, combined with the need to cut down on 'clusters' of pharmacies.

At the UN climate talks, Barry discusses the urgency of ensuring a smooth transition towards clean energy, to avoid dangerous climate change. He recently coordinated a letter from 140 legislators calling on stock exchanges to manage the financial risk of fossil fuels becoming stranded assets, as the world steps up action to reduce carbon emissions.

Barry Gardiner MP has shown his support for women with ovarian cancer across Brent by joining Target Ovarian Cancer at the launch of their state-of-the-nation Pathfinder study on 23 November in parliament.

Women with ovarian cancer are left stranded without vital support at every turn, from diagnostic tests to access to nurses, according to Pathfinder.
