On 4th November 2013 Barry called on the Government to address serious problems with healthcare services in Brent that might endanger patient diagnoses during a debate he led in Parliament, following a number of serious issues with pathology and scanning services in Brent due to errors being made by private companies to whom these services have been outsourced.

On 25th October 2013 Barry took part in Age UK Brent's Dementia Conference to discuss the criticial challenges arising from dementia and to raise awareness of the need for early diganosis. Dementia will effect 1 in 3 people over the age of 65 and is recognised as the leading cause of disability in later life yet a great number of cases go undiagnosed.
