Barry wrote to the Health Secretary, Matt Hancock about the review into factors impacting health outcomes from Covid-19. You can see his letter in full here.

In his letter, Barry asked for urgent clarification on a number of issues. Three such questions were:

  • What action was taken to improve the consistency and robustness of the data?
  • If such action was taken why does the government now claim that the data required to make recommendations to reduce disparities in risk and outcomes “is not routinely collected”?
  • If such action was not taken, why did it set an objective for the review in its terms of reference that it knew could not be met?
