Barry and his colleague Barbara Keeley MP have written a letter to Matt Hancock, the Health Secretary to urge the Government to set up an urgent investigation into inequalities in death rates due to Covid-19. The letter states that this should be considered alongside examining why it appears that BAME communities have been disproportionately hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.
They are also calling on your Government to act urgently to protect most deprived members of society from being exposed to Covid-19. They are disproportionately likely to be in insecure work or unable to work from home. This means that during the lockdown, they have had no choice but to carry on with business as usual.
