Barry responds to Prime Minister's rebuke of Brexit Secretary

Barry Gardiner MP, Shadow Secretary of State for International Trade, Europe, Energy & Climate Change, responding to Number 10's Rebuke of the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union for speaking out of turn in Parliament yesterday, said:

"Yesterday's statement by David Davis was widely reported in the media to have been one of the most vacuous given to the House in a long time. Today, Number 10 has picked out the only substantive point that the Secretary of State made - that controlling immigration would take priority over access to the Single Market. Number 10 have since said that this is 'not Government policy.'

"It would appear that: Brexit means Brexit. Ministerial Statement means Ministerial Opinion.‎ But Incompetence still means Incompetence"
