Barry joins the steering committee of Environmentalists for Europe

Barry is very pleased to announce that he will be joining the steering committee on the newly-launched group Environmentalists for Europe

Some of our most foundational environmental legislation lies in the EU habitats and birds directives, the clean air directive and the water framework directive. Barry recently asked the Minister for Europe in the Houses of Parliament; what would happen if we were to leave the EU and try to renegotiate such legislation? He was less than impressed with the answer, which argued for the principle of subsidiarity.

We should recognise the great importance that the UK has made to European environmental policy, as well as the contribution the EU has made to the UK’s wildlife, environment and biodiversity.

Barry very much looks forward to working with Environmentalists for Europe and would love you to support the campaign too!
